About Cartia

Cartia Duentric Coated Low Dose Aspirin 100 mg

Cartia Duentric coated aspirin 100 mg is a low dose aspirin designed to help prevent blood clotting and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with known cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease. Each tablet contains 100 mg of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) and is formulated for daily use under medical supervision.

The Duentric coating helps prevent the aspirin from being released in the stomach. Instead, it is absorbed further down in the intestines. This design reduces the chance of the aspirin upsetting your stomach, while still delivering effective low dose aspirin therapy.

Cartia Duentric coated low dose aspirin 100 mg is available in packs of 28, 84 and 168 tablets.

Understanding How Cartia’s Duentric Coating Works

Duentric coated aspirin refers to aspirin tablets that have a special coating. Duentric coated means that the tablet has a protective layer designed to delay where the medicine dissolves, helping the tablet pass through the stomach before releasing the active ingredient.

By preventing the aspirin from being released in the stomach, Cartia’s Duentric coating means that absorption starts further along in the duodenum (upper part of the small intestines), where the aspirin is gradually absorbed into the bloodstream. This approach is designed to reduce direct contact with the stomach lining and reduce potential for irritation.

Cartia differs from uncoated low dose aspirin, which begins absorption in the stomach. Repeated direct contact between aspirin and the stomach lining has been associated with irritation in some people. It’s important to know that not all aspirin has a Duentric coating and not all aspirin is suitable for long-term everyday use, so check with your doctor or pharmacist which is right for you.

Cartia vs uncoated aspirin

Cartia’s Duentric coating delays the release of the aspirin to reduce contact with the stomach lining and allowing absorption to take place in the intestine.
