Heart health: the statistics

When it comes to your heart, here are a few interesting statistics to keep in mind:

1. Heart disease is the biggest killer in Australia

According to the Australian Heart Foundation, cardiovascular disease kills one Australian nearly every ten minutes, and affects the lives of more than 3.7 million Australians2. It also prevents 1.4 million people from living a full life because of disability caused by the disease2.

2. It's also one of the most preventable diseases.

Perhaps most importantly, deaths by heart disease are largely preventable. By taking active steps to overcome heart disease – including managing your diet and exercise, you can take positive steps towards a healthy heart.

3. Low dose aspirin such as Cartia® can reduce your risk of having another heart attack or stroke by up to 32%3

Low dose aspirin is proven to protect people who have had a heart attack or stroke from another event. So if you have experienced a heart attack or stroke, speak to your doctor or pharmacist about low dose aspirin.
