How to regain your normal life after a stroke

Having a stroke can be upsetting and quite traumatic. Once you return home after having a stroke, the rehabilitation process is very important.

It is important to:

  • Talk to your doctor and to your carer about your fears or questions. The more you know about your condition, the more confident you can be.
  • Understand that your recovery from a stroke will take time, support and patience.
  • Accept that you might now need to do things differently, in a way which may impact on your relationships, intimacy, work and hobbies.

You can find out more about life after a stroke by going to the National Stroke Foundation's website: www.strokefoundation.com.au
