Sticky blood
Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder that usually affects people under the age of fifty. It occurs when the immune system produces antibodies that attack the blood's platelets, meaning they stick together and form clots. People with this condition are at increased risk of forming deep arterial and venous clots (thromboses). This can lead to heart attacks and strokes.
Sometimes, people with Sticky Blood can be misdiagnosed as having Alzheimer's disease. It can also first show up as a mini-stroke, heart attack, or complete stroke.
